There is nothing, nothing, NOTING like vinyl. I have a very small collection of (mostly classical) stuff, but I'll tell you-- say what you want about the older stuff, the Beatles, Miles, Ella, etc, but once you've heard Radiohead with the full warmth of a vinyl pressing, you'll never want to hear it any other way. I haven't unpacked my turntable yet, but it's definitely on the short list of things I want up soon.

Linda, thank you for your (as always) thoughtful and sincere comment. Although the form might be different, I believe the content of what you're saying and what I'm saying is the same. I really love what you said about faith, too. I really think we crazy humans can get our collective acts together! xoxoxo

I enjoyed reading your thoughts. I hear what you are saying...! I have learned that fear is not from God but we are to focus on what is good, right and beautiful. I have faith, love and hope. Faith is believing in something I can't see. Love others as Christ loves me. (sometimes that is not easy) My hope is in Jesus Christ that He died for my sins (a gift not earned) that I will live in heaven for eternity. My uneasiness is that I see this
world going crazy, the earth is moaning and groaning and we just need to be ready for the return of Christ. Satan is so sly and walks this earth like a lion. He wants us to have no peace but fear. He is such a liar! My hope is that I also know Christ is in control. He is my Saviour, my Bright and Morning Star my Prince of Peace.
Just keep focusing on your glimmer of divine love.
And keep writing..!

The best part of still playing vinyl today is the hisses, the pieces of lint the needle hits and the scratches on the vinyl.... that is what makes it special. All the mp3's and digital downloads have taken out that part of the experience. I have a usb turntable that converts the vinyl to mp3's, but it keeps the hisses and all sounds in the crossover.... still not the same, but it is real close. Great writing on the subject, Marti! Loved it!

They're back, honey! Yes indeed, vinyl is back...and you're right, there is nothing to compare with holding the album cover in your hands poring over it inside and out while the lp is on the turntable.

Mine turntable is hooked up, but I don't like the way my receiver handles it, even with a pre-amp.

Nice post!

Marti,

Thank you for contacting me and letting me know you're reading the www.babamim.com website way out there in Hawaii!

Wow! Did you travel far! I think there's a small group of people there who started a Serbian Orthodox Church as I remember sending $25 to help it get started about 15 years ago. Are you a member? Maybe it wasn't on your island. I can't remember now.

Anyway, I'm thrilled you wrote. Didn't find you on Facebook, but I'm there with so many other Serbian names you probably are very familiar with. So, when I went back to the email you sent, I saw your "Write what you know..." website and have enjoyed the stories very much!

You're a great writer. What you have to do now, is find a Serbian theme and send the story to the SRBOBRAN for all of us to read. Tell us about Hawaii and how you wound up there!

Sponsor a trip there or something..... even though I said I would never go back to Hawaii after it took me 13 grueling hours to come home one time. (Apple Computer sent me there to write lesson plans with some friends from around the USA..... although that was fun, the ride home was horrible! Ughh!)

But sooooo nice to talk to you and know that we are EVERYWHERE! Everywhere! I get emails from Brazil, Australia, all over Europe. Nice!

You'll have to see my charm bracelet some time! Loaded with a piece of 8, and a "Ja Volim Tebe" for Gus, sometimes in the early '70's! A couple of those photo charms on my Nick when he was 1 or 2 years old (he's 39 now!) You brought back some great memories!
